The ensemble Dúbrava was established in January 1979. It is very important that Štefan Jalča was the personality who not only established the ensemble but he also became the first art leader and the first evening performance was held 10th December.
In 1985-1990 the position of the leader art and dance pedagogue was started by the dancer and the dance choreographer Ján Sekerák who rose the level and widened the membership of the ensemble/to 70 members from the age 15 to 70/.
Later the dancer Peter Kopčík took up the position of the art leader n 1990-1998 who has organised many foreign tours and talking parts in many popular and known Slovak festivals. In 1992 he released the magnetic tape FS Dúbrava called "Ozivaj še hlaše".
Next years are remarked of very frequent changes of the art leaders because of bad financial situation of the ensemble. In 1998 the temporary art leader was named violinist Ján Štovka who rose the level of musical/almost 16 members/ and song parts. In 1999 Jaroslav Biroš, former dancer became the leader and in 200 again Ján Štovka who very much contributed to releasing of the first CD called "Špivajme dzifčta" from which one song called Či vám to mamičko was awarded by prize "Grand Prix of Svetozár Stračina" in 2001 in the category B.
The dancer Anton Triščík has been the art leader since 2003. The ensemble introduced itself with new programe called "Co še stalo v našej karčme" and it won the first place at the Second International Festival of Slovak culture SLAVJNSK 2005 in Russion Slavjansk in Kubani.
In September 2006 Michal Pindeš became the art leader and in April 2008 he was alternated by Štefan Ferenc.
